About Me

While my physical abode is nestled within the Songaia co-housing community near Seattle, my true home remains anchored in the heart. For several winters, my path has led me to the stillness of seva at Sattva, supporting the flow of sacred teachings. In the warmth of summer, I return to the Pacific Northwest to offer the Trager Approach - a moving meditation of touch for those navigating the complexities of chronic illness and Lyme Disease, at an integrative health clinic led by Dr Klinghardt. Within the circle of Songaia Community, I hold space for our elders, leading them in the gentle opening of chair yoga.

For over three decades, I walked the traditional path of the householder, draped in my conditioning and heavy structure of expectation, as an architect, a husband, and an home owner. My alchemy from Karma toward Dharma began the moment I turned away from those identities to embrace the healing art of massage. In that release, I found a deeper ground, a clearer presence, and the beginnings of  connection to Shunya, the great void. Then the universe brought Aditi into my life; she became my bridge to meditation, the wisdom of Sattva Yoga, and the grace of Anand Ji.

A Little More About Me

What yoga means to me today

Atha Yoganushasanam. Patangeli's first yoga sutra, Now Yoga is experienced/practiced/explained. Now. In this moment, I practice, I experience Yoga. Every moment of every day my goal is Atha Yoganushasanam. I fail, I forget, but I come back to this.

The practice I return to again and again

Yoga. All of it, the integrated path.

What I am currently learning on my path

My being has craved Shunya, going into the void. I have spent years of practice increasing my access to the void. But lately the bliss, peace and clarity I love in Shunya have been offset by a profound, heavy emptiness, for lack of a better word. My learning now is how to transmute this emptiness into the incredible lightness of being. How to activate, how to take evolutionary action, Kriya, from this still point.

A mantra or truth I live by

The mantra I find myself returning to again and again is the Maha Garuda Mantra.

A teaching that continues to guide me

Garuda flies high carrying Vishnu the sustainer. Like an eagle Garuda can focus in to see the smallest creatures moving through the meadows from great distances while simultaneously soaring high and seeing the vast expanses from horizon to horizon. He is a reminder to shift my focus, expand my perception, zoom out in space and time to see the bigger picture. From there I can see that everything is working out perfectly. From there I can align with the Divine

What I hope students experience in my classes

I want them to experience their own self. To gain a greater awareness of self. To begin to see the Divine within themselves. To begin to see themselves in the Divine.
